This latest video interview on The Blueprint is with John Chow of JohnChowDotCom.

Just like last week with Darren, John was incredibly insightful and had plenty to say about the past, present and future of blogging.  We also learn some interesting tidbits about how JohnChowDotCom started and even who the ORIGINAL John Cow is?!

So don’t miss a second of this great video interview.

Enjoy!

    Another very cool interview!

I stopped reading John Chow over a year ago. While I didn’t have anything against him, there were so many blogs out there about making money on line and I was cutting WAY back on the number of those that I read. In fact, I cut back to reading just one, Darren Rowse’s Problogger.net. That was before I started using a feed reader, too. I don’t think I’ll be adding his blog to the feed, though, as 2.8 posts per day is just a bit too much since I already have more than enough to read and I still limit the number of blogs that read associated with earning money online.

It was good seeing John Chow in this sort of interview format. Good job!

This blog, BlogopolisBlueprint, has actually had a bit of an impact on my blog. I noticed on one of your video posts how awkward it sounded – exit78 dot com backslash weblog – and I’ve found it to be a pain over time, too. So I’ve bit the bullet and moved the blog up to the root directory, since I never got around to using it for anything else, like I had planned. I still have some cleanup to do, but it’s live. And it’ll be a lot simpler for me, too. Thanx!

Last time I checked, the interview with Darren had had 628 views. I hope this one gets as many if not more in its first few days! I really enjoyed it. My favourite bit was when JC talked about how blogging works best when you feel you don’t HAVE to blog, but are doing it because you love it. I’ve been blogging for months without putting my site public, just to see how often I do it, how it’s shaping up, and to get some ‘pillar posts’ written, ready for when I launch properly. I bought Thesis at the weekend, so now I’m looking forward to sharing the journey with this new fledgling blog of yours and leaving the nest soon! Thanks again – the web dialogue format really works!

PS Thanks, too, for adding the edit function on the comments!

  3. Great interview – I think he’s right to say that blogging is so much easier when you don’t feel like you have to do it. The same goes for a lot of things. All work and no plays makes bloggers bored and frustrated.

Eric, Sean I gotta say I *love* these video interviews. John Chow’s chemistry in this video is awesome. I’m a regular reader on his blog, and just like when you interviewed Leo, John comes across as a great genuine guy willing to discuss and help. I really liked how personal you guys got in your discussion about your families and setting up blogs for your kids.

Two thumbs up! Anybody who is not subscribed to the blueprint is *really* missing out. I’ll tweet it tomorrow, since I figure most of my followers are sleeping right now. I *want* people to come see this!

@Mike: I hear a lot of bloggers talk about dropping blogs from their reader when they post too often, but I guess you can’t argue with tens of thousands of subscribers. I’m with you, though. I’ve got too many blogs to read to keep up with multiple posts a day.

Thanks for being such a loyal reader of The Blueprint. :-)

@Janice: We’ll see what happens. I don’t think we’ll get quite the rush from John as we did with Darren, but it should be pretty good.

@Matthew: That point hit home with me as well. It’s when we’re blogging for the fun of it that we produce the best ‘product’.

@Sid: Thanks, Sid! John, like both Leo AND Darren is a really nice guy. I was surprised how much detail he was willing to share. Great stuff, no doubt.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the video interviews. They’re going to keep on coming too. I want The Blueprint to be know for the best video content for bloggers. We’ll see… Eric

  6. Eric, really good job. Interviewing is a serious skill, you make it look easy.

    Enjoyed this interview.

    Nicely done.
